Dancing With GWAR
December 22, 2010To the horror of pretty much everyone else that works at Game Informer, GWAR lead singer Oderus Urungus and bassist Beefcake the Mighty wasted no time in accepting the site's invitation to experience Kinect for Xbox 360. In an effort to answer Game Informer's question, Dan Ryckert placed them in front of Kinect to see if they could enjoy a game of Dance Central like the rest of us. The results can now be viewed at this location.
Dance Central is the dance competition game for the Xbox 360's controller-less Kinect device. The game is a product of Harmonix (the studio behind Rock Band) and MTV Games.
Dance Central uses the Xbox 360's upcoming Kinect camera system to track your entire body while you perform dance moves to popular songs, then scores you on how well you performed the routines.
GWAR's new album, "Bloody Pit Of Horror", sold around 2,800 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The band's previous CD, "Lust In Space", opened with 5,000 units to debut at position No. 96 on The Billboard 200 chart.
Oderus Urungus recently stated about "Bloody Pit Of Horror", "This record is a throwback to an age when bands actually gave a shit about their fans and released albums pretty much once a year. When a 'new album' was actually a series of original compositions instead of a bunch of regurgitated remixes. And the title, though stolen, is an homage to a time when horror films were made with style and care, not driven by corporation whoredom and CG trickery. It is a hateful attack upon all things alive. It is the new GWAR album."
GWAR performed the brand new song "Zombies, March!" on the October 28 edition of NBC-TV's "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon".
Fangoria worked with GWAR on the video for "Zombies, March!". The clip was shot in Richmond, Virginia with Fangoria's own David McKendry.
